This calculator should give a good estimate of the total credit card processing cost per month including downgrade charges for a merchant account. Downgrade charges can make up a large portion of a businesses monthly processing bill. If downgrade transactions approach or exceed 50% of the total volume of transactions, further investigation should be considered, as there is probably something wrong with the merchant account's specified processing method, or other factor causing the downgrading.
